Ah yes, summer

The sun continues to warm the earth, and yet, as the evening begins to bring a bit of cool night air, the smell of new backpacks fills the air.  Teachers, parents and children look at the start of school with trepidation.  What will the new classroom look like?  Will the individual personalities and enchanting differences of the students combine to create a successful classroom unit?

Everyone finds that there is much left to do in the final weeks of summer vacation.  There is that project that you meant to begin but never started, there is that project that you meant to finish but never returned to, there is that back-to-school shopping experience that has to be pencilled into your calendar.  Teachers begin to think (faintly, far away) of what their classroom set up will be, students begin to think of what friends will be with them, what friends will have moved on, and parents begin to think of empty days of time with their children away from home and a new schedule of pick ups, drop offs, and "left at home" delivery runs to school buildings.

But yet, there are still days to be enjoyed, time with friends, swimming, biking, walking, eating and enjoying the sunshine.  So much to do and yet, so little time left.  Enjoy it, enjoy it, take time and enjoy it.  All too soon we'll be adhering to schedules that others have put in place for us.
